Through the generous contributions made by members of the legal community, Fellows GIVE is our way of ensuring that justice is accessible to all.
In 1996, the Allegheny County Bar Foundation established the Fellows program as a formal means to recognize and honor attorneys who have shown a commitment to excellence in charitable, community, professional, and/or public service activities and create an organization of members who recognize and accept the bar’s ongoing challenge to fund public service activities. Since its inception, the Foundation’s Fellows have helped to fund over $700,000 in legal aid grants!
Starting in 2022, Fellows with an active pledge are able to participate in the grant process from their initial donation to the determination of final awards. Fellows can make their pledge at the level of their choosing:
Advocate Fellow: $1,200 over 4 years
Ambassador Fellow: $2,400 over 6 years
Visionary Fellow: $5,000 over 8 years
Additionally, special consideration is offered for Young Lawyers (who have practiced for fewer than 10 years), with the opportunity to pledge $100 for each year they have remaining as a Young Lawyer.
Fellows who have fulfilled their pledges are recognized as Emeritus Fellows and may renew their pledge at any level to regain voting privileges at any time. Prospective Fellows must be nominated into the program by themselves or a peer; with approval from the Fellows Committee, new Fellows are inducted into the Fellows program at the annual Fellows reception and dinner.
