Margaret W. Prescott
Margaret Prescott is a Senior Staff Attorney at the Women’s Center and Shelter’s Civil Law Project, which is an incorporated law project and subsidiary corporation of the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh. Margaret provides comprehensive civil legal representation for low-income survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence. She specializes in family law matters, such as Protection from Abuse, Custody, Child and Spousal Support, and Divorce. While in law school, Margaret gained experience as certified legal intern with the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Elder Law Clinic and Neighborhood Legal Service Association.
Margaret is actively involved with the Allegheny County Bar Association. She is a Young Lawyers Division Council Member, Co-Chair of the YLD Public Service Committee, Family Law Section Counsel Member, and 2017-2018 Bar Leadership Initiative Class Member. She currently serves as Treasurer for the Pittsburgh chapter of the Matrimonial Inns of Court and is a Member of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Statewide DV Attorney Network. Margaret is the recipient of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s H. Rowena Herring Family LRAP award and the Allegheny County Bar Association’s 2016 full scholarship to attend the National Trial Advocacy College.
Margaret is a 2010 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Tepper School of Business. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2013, where she served as the Lead Research Editor for the Journal of Technology Law and Policy and Secretary for the Student Bar Association.
